The study ofEducational Leadershipis foundational to the three concentrations that make up the graduate education curriculum. A core curriculum of 12 credit hours in foundational studies begins the program from which students may choose to specialize in one of three programs or concentrations:
- Religious Education Studies- for educators who are seeking to teach or direct religious studies programs. Also qualifies Lutheran educators for the Lutheran Teaching Diploma and makes them eligible to enter the roster of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.
The Flexible Program Format accommodates busy practicing educators. It prepares practitioners by focusing on practical professional training grounded in theory. The action research practiced throughout the program culminates with a research project that provides real world training in school improvement. The accelerated courses are offered in two consecutive eight-week-long courses during Fall and Winter semesters with one condensed four-week Summer semester each academic year. The course schedule provides a study break for the teacher at the end of the school year and before the new school year begins. The internship studies are integrated as part of the learning activities of each course so that there is no separate, additional internship required. This format is also designed to allow graduate students to complete all course work in two academic years.
