Completion of the secondary teacher education program (with passing grades on the appropriate Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC) content area tests) leads to certification by the State of Michigan to teach grades seven through twelve in the areas of specialized studies.
The secondary education program consists of four components - General Studies, Professional Education Studies, Specialty Studies (either a major and a minor or a double major) and, if the degree plan allows, electives. Completion of a fifth component, the Lutheran Teacher Diploma requirements, certifies the candidate to serve in the teaching ministry of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod.
