Lisa Y. Williams (BA '89) recently earned a Masters Degree from the University of Phoenix online Flexnet program. Lisa works for the City of Detroit BudgetDetroit department and lives in downtown Detroit.

Chris Scofield (1995-1998) received a masters degree in Organizational Leadership from the University of Denver in 2007. Chris works as a financial associate for Thrivent in Cherry Creek, Colorado.

Kurt Kolka (AA '84) recently accepted a position with the Gaylord Herald Times. He also debuted his online comic strip, The Cardinal, which can be viewed at www.thecardinal.org. The online comic is based on a strip he created for the student newspaper while attending Concordia.

Jaclyn (Eilers) Lutzke (BA '05) is studying for a Masters Degree an Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis. She is majoring in English with a concentration in writing. She and her husband, Alexander (BA '07) celebrated the birth of their first child, Oliver Alexander Lutzke on October 28, 2007. He was 8lbs and 20 inches long. The couple resides in Plainfield, Indiana.

Rev. David Reimann (BA ’78) entered his heavenly home on January 15, 2008. CUAA President, Rev. Dr. Thomas Ahlersmeyer noted: “He was a man of buoyant, committed, courageous faith in Jesus Christ, who faced his cancer "head on," using it as an opportunity for witnessing to the Gospel and never as an excuse for cutting back in his life's calling as a servant of the Word. He had a special heart for young people, serving the church as a leader in youth ministry for most of his pastoral career. God used him in mighty ways, and he will be missed greatly by many people.”

Robert Meyer, Jr. (BA ’98) was chosen to be Music Director of Zion Lutheran (ELCA) Church in Ann Arbor, Michigan in October of 2007. Rob’s duties include directing Zion’s Adult Choir and Handbells, directing the Joyful Noise Children’s Choir, working with the church staff to plan worship, and overseeing other music staff members. This past summer Rob performed with the Detroit Concert Choir and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra in their performance of Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana at the Meadowbrook Music Festival. This fall Rob sang with the choir and the Southern Great Lakes Symphony Orchestra in a concert of Opera classics in Flatrock, Michigan. During the Christmas season Rob sang with country music legend, Kenny Rogers, in a concert at Detroit’s Fox Theatre.

Carol (Leimbach) Koenig (AA ’72) was recognized as the Distinguished Lutheran Early Childhood Teacher for 2008 by the Lutheran Education Association. Carol teaches at Messiah Lutheran School in St. Charles, Missouri.

Kristine Chandler (MS '06) recently accepted a position at Columbia College in Chicago, Illinois. She is working as the Director of Development for Music.

Shelly Davis (BA ’90) was recognized as the Distinguished Lutheran Secondary Educator for 2008 by the Lutheran Education Association. Shelly earned a Masters Degree in Educational Counseling from the University of Phoenix and works as a guidance counselor at Salt Lake Lutheran High School in Salt Lake City, Utah. She and her husband of twelve years, Del, have two children, Rachyl, 9 and Daniel 3.

Brandon Watkins (MS ’06) married Erin Ford of Ann Arbor on July 14, 2007. Brandon works in administration services in the Ave Maria School of Law and Erin is a graduate student in Dietetics and Nutrition at Eastern Michigan University. The couple plans to move in the summer of 2008. They are considering Raleigh, North Carolina and Seattle, Washington.

Susan (Topolosky) Schotte (B.A. 2001) gave birth to a son, Kyle William. Kyle was born on June 5, 2007 and joins big brother Kolton. Susan and her husband Kevin reside in Bremen, Kansas.

Sarah (Tennant) Tessaro (B.A. '99) and husband, Eric, welcomed their second child, Aidan Charles, on June 14, 2007. Aidan joins big brother Ethan, who will be 4 yrs.old in February. The Tessaro's live in Springfield, MO

George T. Adams Sr. (BA ’97) recently accepted a case manager position at the AreteCommunity Corrections Center in Saginaw, Michigan. The Arete Community Correction Center is part of the Proaction Behavioral Health Alliance Organization, where he manages federal inmates’ cases. George also conducts weekly substance abuse classes for the Michigan Department of Corrections residents in the facility.

Robin (Schonsheck) Paris (A.A. ’67) has been placed as Gift Planning Counselor with Lutheran Haven Foundation and the SELC District, Oviedo, Florida by the LCMS Foundation. She moved to the Orlando area to fulfill this responsibility on November 15, 2007 after serving as Director of Development for The Lutheran School of the Miami Valley in Dayton, Ohio for over 15 years. Her husband Richard will join her at their condo in Winter Springs after their home in Ohio is sold. Robin’s son Joshua, wife Mary and daughter Grace live in St. Mary’s, Georgia, and will give her another granddaughter in January. Her daughters, Sarah and Kate, and Sarah’s son David plan to remain in Dayton for now.

Rev. Glen Thomas (BA ’78) recently accepted a call to serve as the Executive Director of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod Board for Pastoral Education. The LCMS Board for Pastoral Education advocates and coordinates the formation of pastors, missionaries, and other church servants to serve the mission and ministry needs of Christ’s church.

Rev. Richard Schlak (BA ‘81) accepted a Call to serve as executive director of the new Lutheran Hispanic Missionary Institute in El Paso, Texas. He was installed on September 17, 2007, at Mission Lutheran Church in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The Missionary Institute aims to train and support Spanish-speaking church leaders who will begin new ministries in the U.S. and internationally. Lord willing, it will open its doors for classes on January 6, 2008.
