FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
“PROOF” PERFORMED AT CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY –ANN ARBOR
ANN ARBOR, Mich., Feb. 16, 2006 – The Concordia University Theater Department presents “Proof” at Concordia University-Ann Arbor (CUAA) on February 23, 24, and 25 at 8 p.m., and February 26 at 2:30 p.m., in the Kreft Center Black Box Theater.
The twenty-fifth birthday of the main character, Catherine, is plagued by the death of her unsound father who had been under her care. The stress intensifies with the arrival of her sister, Claire, who has been distant from the struggles of the family, as well as Hal, a former student of their father, who wishes to research their father’s old writings. Catherine tries to balance the trauma and anxiety of her life with the fact that she may be struggling with the same mental illness as her father did. This play-on-numbers and love may be inappropriate for young audiences.
“Proof” is a Pulitzer-winning drama by David Auburn that will soon be imbedded in the performance history of cua2rt’s (Concordia University-Ann Arbor Arts) second season. The program was launched last Fall with phenomenal success which has rolled over into this spring. “Proof” is one of over 25 performances this season that is helping cua2rts gain the attention of art and music lovers alike that is aiding to the growing popularity of the program.
Dr. Laura Bird is directing the Concordia University Theater Department for this drama. Last fall they performed William Shakespeare’s “The Comedy of Errors,” to rave reviews. The brilliance and flair of this veteran director promises a quality performance.
