CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY- ANN ARBOR HOSTS GUEST LECTURER
“3500 YEARS OF JEWELRY DESIGN”
ANN ARBOR, Mich., March 7, 2006– Larry Newhouse, program director for the Ford Gallery at neighboring Eastern Michigan University will be coming to Concordia University- Ann Arbor on Thursday, March 16 at 7:30 p.m. to give a lecture about the history of jewelry. The lecture, held in Concordia’s Riverside Conference Room (located on the lower level of the Student Union) will cover the development of jewelry spanning from the ancient Egyptians to modern 21st century contemporary designs.
Newhouse will explore some of the techniques used in producing jewelry as well as its application for practical use and adornment. The ways in which design has changed and remained the same throughout the centuries will also be discussed. The lecture will be supplemented with photographic images and examples demonstrating the progress and trends of 3500 years of jewelry design. The lecture will be free and is open to the public.
