FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
VOX EARLY MUSIC ENSEMBLE PERFORMS FAREWELL CONCERT
ANN ARBOR, Mich., August 11, 2006- Vox Early Music Ensemble will be performing their farewell concert, before the group relocates to Chicago, at Concordia University–Ann Arbor (CUAA), on Sunday, September 10 at 4 p.m. in the Chapel of the Holy Trinity.
Vox will be performing the la Rue “Requiem,” generally regarded by historians as a masterpiece, but rarely performed. It is certainly one of the lowest pieces of music written for a cappella voices, leading many modern scholars to label it as “unperformable.” In May 2005, Vox Early Music Ensemble made history by giving what was likely the first performance in nearly 500 years of this work unaccompanied and at the written pitch. This September, Vox will make history again by creating the first modern recording of the la Rue “Requiem” as it was composed half a millennium ago.
Tickets are for adults, for seniors, for students and children 12 and under and can be purchased through the Kreft Center Box Office at 734.995.4612 or online at
www.cuaa.edu/cuarts. Hours are Monday-Friday from noon-5 p.m. The Chapel of the Holy Trinity is located on Concordia’s campus at 4090 Geddes Rd. in Ann Arbor just west of US-23 at exit 39. For more information call 734.995.4612 or e-mail cuarts@cuaa.edu
