CUA²RTS ON THE ROAD VISITS SHRINKING CITIES
ANN ARBOR, Mich., February 2, 2007- Join cua2rts, Sunday, February 11, as we travel to the new Museum of Contemporary Art in Detroit (MOCAD) with dinner to follow at the Traffic Jam & Snug.
The MOCAD opened in October and is dedicated to presenting art at the forefront of contemporary culture. Their current exhibition, Shrinking Cities, is a project by Germany's Federal Cultural Foundation, the Kulturstiftung des Bundes, explores a form of urban development that has become a global phenomenon. Starting in 2002, local teams were commissioned in Detroit (USA), Manchester/Liverpool (Britain), Ivanovo (Russia), and Halle/Leipzig (Germany) to investigate and document processes of urban shrinking. In more than fifty exhibition contributions, artists, architects, filmmakers, journalists, culture experts, and sociologists reveal and illuminate the changing realities of these cities.
Tickets are per person and include motor coach transportation, dinner, taxes, gratuity, and non-alcoholic beverages. Admission to the museum is free. For more information and to purchase tickets call the Concordia University–Ann Arbor Box Office at 734.995.7316. Information on the exhibition can be found at www.mocadetroit.org.
