KENT STATE-MAY 4, 1970: THE MEMORIAL DESIGN BY BRUNO AST
ANN ARBOR, Mich., February 13, 2007- Concordia University–Ann Arbor’s Kreft Center Gallery will host the exhibit, Kent State-May 4, 1970: The Memorial Design by Bruno Ast, February 15 through March 22. The opening reception will take place on February 15 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a gallery talk by Ast at 7:30 p.m.
The memorial that commemorates the events of May 4, 1970, when four students were killed and nine wounded during an anti-war demonstration on the Kent State campus, rests on a 2 ½-acre wooded site overlooking the commons of Kent State University. The exhibition will showcase conceptual studies, architectural models, and photographs with digital models of the design submitted by Ast for a national design competition at Kent State University in 1986.
Bruno Ast is currently an associate professor of architecture and an associate dean in the college of architecture and art at the University of Illinois. Additionally, he is the founder and partner of Ast + Dagdelen Architects in Chicago.
