MCKINNEY ACCEPTS CALL TO CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY
ANN ARBOR, Mich., July 11, 2007- Robert McKinney of Simi Valley, Calif., has accepted the call to serve as director of spiritual life at Concordia University–Ann Arbor (CUAA). He and his family will relocate to CUAA sometime before the beginning of the 2007-08 academic year. McKinney has served as a professional church worker for 37 years. Prior to joining CUAA, he served as minister of education and youth at Trinity Lutheran in Simi Valley.
McKinney received his Bachelor of Arts at Valparaiso University (1969); double majoring in Theology and Art with a Youth Leadership Training Program emphasis. He has also received his Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod (LCMS) certification as a director of Christian education (DCE) from Concordia College-Seward and is currently working on his master’s degree in Christian Leadership at Concordia University–Irvine.
The director of spiritual life facilitates the worship life of the campus and provides spiritual leadership and counsel to the campus community on behalf of the Office of the President. He is responsible for establishing and maintaining positive relationships with Lutheran congregations, promoting a positive image and clear understanding of the mission of CUAA among professional church workers, congregational members, and fraternal organizations.
