CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY’S “ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE” TO HOST EMPTY BOWLS EVENT
ANN ARBOR, Mich., January 11, 2008 – The Artists in Residence, a student-run organization at Concordia University – Ann Arbor, in conjunction with Aramark, will host an Empty Bowls Servant Day event on January 21, in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The event will begin at 1 p.m. in the Kreft Center 3D Studio and runs until 7 p.m.
All students, faculty and staff of Concordia are invited to participate in this memorable and productive day of creating bowls for the spring Empty Bowls fundraiser. Participants will have an opportunity to engage in an open discussion about serving the less fortunate in our community. SOS Community Services will be present at the event to discuss the role and impact they have for the needy in our community. Bowls created during the event will be sold at the fundraiser in April. Proceeds from the sale will benefit SOS Community Services, to help in their outreach to the community’s homeless population.
Bowl Making will take place from 1 – 4 p.m. in the Kreft Center 3D Studio, directly followed by a Raku firing. A special soup dinner will follow from 4:30 – 7:00 p.m. in the Riverside Rooms, which are located on the lower level of the CUAA Student Union.
