CONCORDIA WELCOMES DR. GARY R. HABERMAS FOR LECTURE
ANN ARBOR, Mich., February 15, 2008 – The Division of Religion and Philosophy at Concordia University – Ann Arbor (CUAA) welcomes Dr. Gary R. Habermas on Tuesday, March 4, for a lecture exploring his research into the resurrection of Jesus. Habermas has dedicated his professional life to the examination of the relevant historical, philosophical, and theological issues surrounding the death and resurrection of Jesus. The lecture, being held on the CUAA campus, is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Holy Trinity. The lecture should conclude around 12:20 p.m. and will be followed by a question and answer segment. This event is free and open to the public.
Dr. Habermas is the author or co-author of over 30 books and 100 articles and reviews in journals and magazines. In the last 12 years he has given over 1500 lectures in about 100 universities, seminaries, and colleges. He holds a doctorate in history and philosophy of religion from Michigan State University, as well as a master’s in philosophical theology from the University of Detroit. He currently acts as “Distinguished Research Professor and Chair” in the Department of Philosophy and Theology at Liberty University, where he has taught for the past 26 years. His main areas of research include the philosophical study of miracles, near-death experiences, the historical Jesus, and the historicity of the resurrection of Jesus. Recent books authored by Habermas include: “The Case for the Resurrection of Christ” and “The Secret of the Talpiot Tomb: Unraveling the Mystery of the Jesus Family Tomb.”
