CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY’S “EMPTY BOWLS” EVENT LEADS INTO MARCH COMMUNITY FUNDRAISER
ANN ARBOR, Mich., February 5, 2008 – The Artists in Residence, a student-run art organization at Concordia University—Ann Arbor, in conjunction with Aramark, hosted an Empty Bowls Servant Day event on January 21, in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The focus of the event was to create a series of ceramic bowls in preparation for a spring Empty Bowls fundraiser.
More than 40 students, faculty and friends of the university participated in the bowl creation. The bowls that were made at the servant event will be sold at the Empty Bowls fundraiser, which will be held at Sidetrack Bar & Grill in Historic Depot Town in Ypsilanti, Michigan, on March 26. Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit SOS Community Services, helping in their outreach to the community’s homeless population. SOS Community Services will be present at the event to discuss the role and impact they have for the needy in our community.
