FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CONCORDIA VOLUNTEERS TO HELP FIGHT HUNGER
ANN ARBOR, Mich., March 12, 2008 – Concordia University—Ann Arbor (CUAA), in partnership with Thrivent Financial, is hosting an event on Friday, April 4, from 3–7 p.m. to aid the mission of Kids Against Hunger. Kids Against Hunger is a nonprofit organization whose mission it is to significantly reduce the number of hungry children in the United States and to feed starving children throughout the world. Volunteers will participate in a massive assembly line effort, putting together food packages that will be sent around the world.
The package that volunteers will put together provides six nutritionally-complete servings at the low cost of 23 cents per serving. The revolutionary food package was developed by some of the world’s leading food scientists at Cargill, Pillsbury, General Mills and Archer Daniels Midland.
Volunteers from the community are invited to join in the service project. The April 4 event will take place in the CUAA Gymnasium and will start at 3:00 p.m. with volunteers packing four food items, labeling and packaging them for shipping. At 4:30 p.m. there will be a dinner provided for the volunteers, after which packaging will resume from 5:30–7:00 p.m. Each shift will require approximately 125 to 150 volunteers. If you would like to volunteer for this event, please contact the CUAA Office of Development at (734)995-7327. CUAA is located at 4090 Geddes Road in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
