FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ANN ARBOR, MI - In only its second year of participating in the tournament, Concordia University, Ann Arbor will have the opportunity to host the 52nd Annual Concordia Invitational Tournament (CIT) the weekend of January 24 and 25, 2003. This year’s basketball tournament will bring men’s and women’s teams from four Concordia’s within the Concordia University System, including Concordia-Seward, Concordia-Mequon, Concordia-River Forest and Concordia-Ann Arbor to compete for the CIT Traveling Trophies. The trophy stands not only as a symbol of tournament victory, but also serves to correlate the true meaning of athletics among Concordia’s. Originally donated by Aid Association for Lutherans the inscriptions read: "Inaugurated to sponsor the highest ideals in competitive athletics in fullest conformity with the spirit of Christ and its demands in the lives of Christian men and women."
Along with the participating teams each school will be represented by a dance team who will perform throughout the weekend and a large following of family, friends, students, alumni and fans. We are looking forward to a great tournament and invite and encourage you to come out and see some great basketball while supporting all the teams participating.
Alumni from Concordia University - Ann Arbor, Concordia University - Mequon, Concordia University - River Forest, and Concordia University - Seward are also invited to attend the "All Concordia Alumni Reception" held in conjunction with the tournament on January 25, 2003 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m..
