ARTIST BRIAN WOOD TO EXHIBIT WORKS AT CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY
ANN ARBOR, Mich., February 5, 2008 – New York artist Brian Wood will display works in an exhibit, which runs from February 12 – March 19, at the Kreft Center Gallery at Concordia University—Ann Arbor. Wood uses multiple media to foreground differing awareness in his ongoing exploration of consciousness. He uses different media to both stimulate and respond to various states of mind and multiple levels of thought.
An opening reception for the Brian Wood exhibit will take place on Thursday, Feb. 21, from 7–9 p.m. in the Kreft Center Gallery. The artist will give a talk about his work at 7:30 p.m. The Kreft Center Gallery hours are Tuesday–Friday, noon–4 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 1–5 p.m. Admission is free. Brian Wood’s works are included in the permanent collections of museums around the world, including the Metropolitan Museum, Museum of Modern Art, Brooklyn Museum, New York, Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington D.C., Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Los Angeles, California, and the Houston Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, Texas. Wood lives and works in New York City, and teaches at Hunter College-New York. In his own explanation, the links between photography and drawing, the two media Wood uses in his work, are not based on rational correspondence, but rather on connections of emotion and movements of imagination.
