ANN ARBOR, Mich./March 14, 2005 – On April 7, 2005, the Concordia University-Ann Arbor Department of Fine Art and Baron Glassworks are sponsoring Empty Bowls, a fundraiser to fight hunger, from 5-8 p.m. at the Sidetrack Bar and Grill in Ypsilanti’s Depot Town. For the fifth year running, Concordia students, faculty and staff will create and sell ceramic bowls with soup for a suggested minimum donation of . Studio artists at Baron Glassworks will donate blown glass bowls for the event. Purchasers keep the bowls as a reminder of the global fight to end hunger. All proceeds from the event will benefit the SOS Community Services Emergency Food Pantry.
The Empty Bowls concept was created in 1990 by a Michigan high school art teacher and his students as a unique and creative way to raise funds for a food drive. Since then, Empty Bowls events have been held all over the world raising millions of dollars to fight hunger.
Sidetrack Bar and Grill is located at 56 E. Cross Street in Ypsilanti’s Depot Town.
