How to apply for Financial Aid at Concordia
Concordia University Ann Arbor requires that all students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine their eligibility for need-based financial aid. Need-based financial aid includes grants, Federal Stafford and PLUS loans as well as Federal Work-Study awards.
When submitting the FAFSA, be sure to include Concordia University Ann Arbor in the list of schools allowed to receive the results of your application. Our Title IV school code is 002247. Typically, once you have submitted the FAFSA, your results are made available to us within 2-3 business days.
Step 1: Complete the FAFSA online at http://fafsa.ed.gov
Be sure to request the results of your application be released to Concordia University Ann Arbor, Title IV school code: 002247. Unless you authorize the release, we will not receive the information needed to determine your financial aid eligibility. Typically, the results are made available to us two to three business days after your application has been submitted.
Step 2: Apply for admission to Concordia University Ann Arbor.
Federal regulations require that students must be accepted into a degree-seeking program at Concordia University in order to receive financial assistance.
Step 3: Apply for scholarships from local, state and national organizations.
Additional scholarships may provide additional resources to help cover your higher education expenses. Should you receive any additional scholarship funds, please be sure to notify the Office of Financial Aid at Concordia University so we can add those awards to your financial aid eligibility. Step 4: Respond to any requests for additional information from the Office of Financial Aid.
On occasion, additional information may be necessary in order to determine your eligibility for financial aid. When we need more information, we will contact you via mail with a request specifying the additional information we need in order to determine your financial aid eligibility. The sooner we are able to review the information, the sooner we will be able to determine your financial aid eligibility.
Step 5: Review Your Financial Aid Award Notification from Concordia University.
Concordia University is committed to providing financial assistance to students and families in the form of merit, talent, athletic and academic scholarships as well as need-based grants. Your financial aid award notification is prepared based on all the information available at the time. Typically, we can review the results of your FAFSA and determine your aid eligibility within 1-2 weeks after receiving the FAFSA results.
Should you have additional unique circumstances affecting you or your family’s financial situation, please consider submitting a Special Circumstances Appeal to provide us with the opportunity to help identify additional sources of financial aid that may be available.
How is your financial aid eligibility determined?
Academic, Athletic, Merit and Talent-Based Financial Aid Awards
Eligibility for these awards are based solely on each individual student’s performance and abilities. These awards are made in recognition of students who excel in one or more of these areas. At Concordia University these awards are made in the form of renewable scholarships for eligible students.
Need-Based Financial Aid Awards
Financial need as the difference between what it costs to attend Concordia University Ann Arbor and what you and your family can be realistically expected to contribute based on information submitted on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
The Department of Education determines your expected family contribution based on the information you provide on the FAFSA. The Financial Aid Office at Concordia University uses that information to determine each individual student’s eligibility for grants, loans and Federal Work Study that may be available to help meet the calculated financial need.
