Over the course of four decades, friends of Concordia University, Karl and Shirley Kreft, assembled a large and eclectic collection of painting, drawing, and sculpture. In the first of what we hope will be a series of exhibits drawn from private collections, Living With Art takes the viewer through a variety of styles and genres, and raises questions about how we “live with” art rather than viewing it only in the formal space of museums and galleries.

Over the last several years, documentary photographer, Ryan Spencer Reed has recorded the displacement of the people of Darfur, Sudan. The photographic images which constitute the collection are powerful witnesses to the experience of those who were and are caught up these events. As part of a grass-roots level awareness campaign, this evolving narrative and compelling indictment is now both an exhibit and an appeal for peace, which advocates for the people whom the violence in Sudan has displaced.
