Tutoring services at the ARC

If your coursework has you scratching your head and you feel like you need a little extra help, don’t sweat it. The ARC provides free peer tutoring for many undergraduate courses offered at CUAA.

How tutoring can help

ARC tutors have taken the course (or courses) for which they tutor, come highly recommended by professors, and have been specially trained by our professional staff. All you need to do is stop by the ARC to set up an appointment with one our trained tutors and you’ll be well on your way to success.

ARC tutors can help you:
  • Understand course objectives
  • Review materials
  • Prepare for quizzes and tests
  • Learn study techniques
ARC tutors offers a few options:
  • Peer-to-peer (one-on-one) tutoring
  • Small group (2-3 students) tutoring
  • Study group sessions

Contact us to find the option that’s right for you. Tutoring is open to all CUAA students and there is no charge for the service.

How to make an appointment

To make an appointment with a peer tutor, call the ARC at 734-995-7460, or email us at ARC@cuaa.edu. You’re also welcome to stop by! The ARC is located on the first floor of Zimmerman Library.

If you’re currently taking a class that doesn’t have a tutor, please contact the ARC and we’ll gladly assist you.

Drop-in Hours

Writing consultants are available to meet with students several times a day during drop-in hours; they are also available outside of those drop-in hours for individual or small group appointments. Stop by the ARC to learn more.

Online Writing Assistance

We offer asynchronous online writing assistance with a writing consultant. Please follow these instructions:

You must include the following information in the body of an email (ARC@cuaa.edu) so that our writing consultants can best assist you:

  • Full name & F00 #
  • Course AND instructor name
  • Brief assignment description & DUE DATE
  • Include your thesis/main point
  • Please select ONE of the five areas that you would like feedback on
    • Organization
    • Content development & support
    • Style and clarity
    • Grammar/Mechanics
    • Originality (citations, originality, automated Turnitin service)

Be advised, if the writing consultants feel it would be better to meet in person to discuss your paper, one of them will contact you directly. You are also invited —as always— to come in for a face-to-face appointment for additional clarity on feedback delivered here, or for a more interactive session.
