Dr. Ramu Kharel is a Global Emergency Medicine Fellow in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Brown University. He completed his emergency medicine from Emory University and received MPH from Harvard University. Besides working with COVID patients in the emergency room, Dr. Kharel has special interest in public health training, and health system strengthening. During the pandemic, he has been training public health professionals around the world in COVID response and capacity building. His past public health focus has been on advancing hand washing habits among children in Nepal. He currently practices emergency medicine in Providence, Rhode Island.

He will speak on the following topics:

  • Why self-care is so important, in general, but especially now
