Safer at home order extended for Wisconsin, employee temporary remote work

April 17, 2020

We will continue employee temporary remote work for Mequon, Extended, and Ann Arbor Campus’.

Dear Concordians,

Greetings to you on this spring Friday afternoon (even as snow flurries fall). It is remarkable to realize that it was a month ago today that our university began its transition to remote work. What inspires me these many days later is the incredible spirit our faculty and staff exude in the midst of such challenging times. Our entire workforce, faculty and staff, turned on a dime to change the way we deliver content and care to our students, and you continue to challenge yourselves to do even more. Your commitment to our mission and to your vocations is making what could have been an almost insurmountable challenge into a genuine display of service and uncommon leadership. Thank you.

Yesterday, the Wisconsin leadership in Madison announced new guidance for safer-at-home. We anticipate some degree of similar expansion from Michigan, but that remains to be seen. This email maps out a few brief updates to our campus work policies in light of this new guidance.

Safer at home order extended for Wisconsin

On April 16, 2020, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services issued an extension of the Safer at Home Order first issued on March 24, 2020. This order takes effect Friday, April 24, 2020, and will remain in effect until Tuesday, May 26, 2020.

As an update for our Concordia Community we want to communicate that we will continue Employee Temporary Remote Work via the extended order for Mequon, Extended, and Ann Arbor Campus’.

Employee remote work

The University implemented work from home (Remote Work) procedures for all faculty and staff as of March 23, 2020. Vice Presidents will continue to work together to ensure certain campus-based operations are adequately staffed. Our priority is employee health and well-being, while ensuring that the university sustains important business functions. Each department will provide Remote Work plan updates, as needed, to HR. We will evaluate Remote Work and communicate updates to all employees as needed during this time.

You can help us too by staying current with our updates located on the websites. We will use these updates to announce new actions, answer common questions, and guide you to the best places to receive assistance on specific topics. www.cuw.edu/covid19 or www.cuaa.edu/covid19

If you have further questions regarding remote work please contact your supervisor, Vice President, or Human Resources.

We Are Concordia; hearts together. Thank you for continuing to work together to ensure a safe, high quality, healthy environment for one another and for the students we so dearly love.

Sincerely,
Rev. Patrick T. Ferry, Ph.D
President
