Our online master’s in special education prepares graduates ready to create inclusive learning environments by using the adaptive tools necessary to help students succeed to the best of their abilities. You will master progress monitoring in order to evaluate student success and setbacks and present meaningful solutions. Our learning disabilities program includes classes in language, literacy, educational research methods, procedural safeguards, and technology available for teachers and students. You will learn about documentation requirements and federal and state legislation influencing the educational landscape.
Concordia’s master's program in special education is offered exclusively online through convenient, eight-week courses. Our program is designed for K-12 educators interested in adding both a master’s degree and the Michigan Endorsement in the area of Special Education Learning Disabilities (SM) to their elementary or secondary teaching certificate.
Our master’s degree in special education is a 36-credit program with course objectives aligned with the Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education and the Interstate Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium (InTASC). Candidates must complete eight weeks of directed student teaching, along with a student teaching seminar. You may choose to obtain an endorsement in special education without a master’s degree if you choose.
