The Worship Arts Leadership program at Concordia University, Ann Arbor provides knowledge and experience through participation in campus Worship Arts Ensembles (WAE), and a more concentrated course of study through completion of a minor in Worship Arts Leadership.
The worship life of the Christian church is God’s ministry to us, and is as multi-faceted as the church itself. Worship ministries in today’s local churches no longer require artists trained exclusively as musicians. These ministries require skilled musicians with strong leadership skills, thorough knowledge of sacred scripture and worship theology, and the ability to navigate the rapidly changing landscape of audio and visual technology.
As a member of a Worship Arts Ensemble, you will plan and rehearse weekly with a modern worship band, and periodically be scheduled to provide music for daily worship services in the campus chapel. Members of advanced ensembles will be invited to lead music for worship services at special district functions and youth events, as well as with congregations throughout Michigan and surrounding states.
The Worship Arts Leadership (WAL) Minor at Concordia University, Ann Arbor offers music courses to develop your musical skills, Biblical and religious studies to develop your knowledge of worship theology, and courses in modern worship arts leadership and music technology. The WAL minor also includes practical application of skills in local congregations, and involvement in campus worship arts ensembles throughout the course of study.
