Minneapolis Star-Tribune Aakash Mittal has worked as a performing artist, teaching artist, and composer since 2002. His primary ensemble, the award winning Aakash Mittal Quartet, has released four critically acclaimed recordings and continues to tour both nationally and internationally.
As a composer and improviser, Mittal employs colorful dissonances, meditative silences, and angular rhythms to express environments and spaces from the American west to the dense streets of Kolkata (Calcutta).
