AUDITION DETAILS

Please read these music audition instruction which will help you be prepared for your upcoming audition. You have two options when choosing a song to sing for your audition.

OPTION 1:

Sing 16-32 bars of a piece in English, preferably musical theater. If you pick this option, YOU MUST BRING SHEET MUSIC FOR THE PIANIST!!

OPTION 2:

Sing one of the musical cuts provided in the Big Fish-Music Audition Cuts Google Drive that is closest to the role you are most interested in. Please note, any of these cuts or option 1 will also double as an audition for small roles and ensemble, so you only need to prepare one selection.

  • Edward and Will: Be the Hero Reprise
  • Sandra: Time Stops
  • Witch: I Know What You Want Reprise
  • Amos: Start Over, Amos Cut
  • Karl: Start Over, Karl Cut
  • Jenny & Josephine: Please sing either Sandra or Witch Cut
  • Don Price: Sing either Amos or Edward Cut
  • Other Small Roles & Ensemble: Any of the above cuts OR bring 16-32 bars of any MT piece.

If you choose Option 2, go to the Big Fish-Music Audition Cuts Google Drive and select the folder for the character you want to audition for. There I have included sheet music as PDF files and MP3s with both show tracks with full vocals AND accompaniment tracks to practice with for your audition. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email Prof. Elizabeth Mitchell at elizabeth.mitchell@cuaa.edu.

Based on the celebrated novel by Daniel Wallace and the acclaimed film directed by Tim Burton, BIG FISH tells the story of Edward Bloom, a traveling salesman who lives life to its fullest…and then some! Edward’s incredible, larger-than-life stories thrill everyone around him—most of all, his devoted wife Sandra. But their son Will, about to have a child of his own, is determined to find the truth behind his father’s epic tales. Overflowing with heart and humor, BIG FISH is an extraordinary musical that reminds us why we love going to the theatre—for an experience that’s richer, funnier and bigger than life itself.
