Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at Concordia University Ann Arbor is dedicated to helping students reach and maintain mental, physical, and spiritual health. We are a free, confidential resource for students to use at any point during their time at CUAA. If you or someone you know could use a little help or a person to talk to, don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We’re here to help.

Individual counseling sessions

Individual sessions are held once per week for about 50 min-1 hour each. The number of sessions a student attends varies depending on their presenting concerns. Students who take advantage CAPS services do so to create lasting positive change their life. Therapy can benefit anyone who wishes to change the way they are thinking, feeling, or behaving. Examples below include (but are not limited to):

  • Feeling: depressed, sad, anxious, unmotivated, angry
  • Thinking: worry, low self-esteem, negative self-talk, body image issues
  • Behaving: poor academic performance, difficulties trusting others, relationship or communication issues, or maladaptive behaviors (disordered eating/ substance abuse, self-harm)

Wellness programing

CAPS provides psychoeducational and wellness programming for students, faculty and staff. Examples of previous wellness programing are as follows:

  • Comfort Dog Visits
  • Mindfulness Meditation Sessions
  • Holy Yoga Classes
  • Sports Performance Anxiety Workshop
  • Reducing Stress
  • Improving Sleep
