Why didn't the Board vote in favor of the Ann Arbor campus’s bid for autonomy?

A task force appointed by the Board evaluated the potential for the Ann Arbor campus to become autonomous and investigated four areas: Accreditation, Financial, Legal, and Lutheran Identity and Mission Outcomes. Each category presented several challenges, but accreditation and financial obstacles emerged as the most significant barriers. For the Ann Arbor campus to achieve autonomy, it would need to secure an additional $31.8 million for the fiscal years 2025-2027, and the accreditation process would take 3-5 years longer than initially anticipated.

Why does CUW have the financial resources needed to complete renovation projects?

The renovation projects on the Wisconsin campus, including the remodeling of Siebert Dining Hall and the renovation of the R. John Buuck Field House, are entirely funded by generous donors and gifts from university partners.
