Each Summer, Concordia University Ann Arbor hosts Summer Institute Workshops that cover engaging topics in the field of education and provide educators an opportunity to receive State Continuing Education Clock Hours (SCECHs). Past workshops have covered topics such as transforming education with technology, utilizing peer feedback, building grit in students, creating a culture of achievement, and engaging in active learning.

The workshops are either a one or two-day format and are offered for six SCECHs per day at an affordable rate of $75 per day. Some Preferred Educational Partnership schools/districts have approved these as part of their District Provided Professional Development (DPPD). Check with your school/district to determine if they have approved the workshops for DPPD, which would reduce the cost to $50 for DPPD. You must select the workshop for either DPPD or SCECHs, not both. Registration includes lunch.

When registering, teachers working in a Lutheran school should select the registration option of $25 per workshop to receive an award for $50 per workshop supported by the INSIGHT grant. On the day of the workshop, teachers working in a Lutheran school who selected this option will be asked to fill out an acceptance form.

Call for Proposals: February 21 – March 30

Presenting at the CUAA 2018 Summer Institute provides an opportunity to lead a one or two-day workshop on Concordia University Ann Arbor’s campus. Selected presenters will engage with fellow educators, share understanding and significant knowledge, and expand professional networks. It is a wonderful way to share classroom experience, new ideas, best practices, and highlight future direction in education today. Applicants are encouraged to submit proposals that are content-rich, impactful, engaging, and interactive. Presenters are compensated with a stipend.

Instructions for online submission:

  • Please fill out the online Proposal Application here.
  • When assembling proposal topic and application content, please consider how your topic is relevant and important to today’s educators. Please also consider including innovative strategies to engage participants while aligning with your topic outcomes.
  • Under Proposed Workshop Title, please list a title that best summarizes the workshop content. The Graduate Education department will work with you to finalize a title.
  • Under Workshop Description, please sum up your workshop in 4-5 sentences so the review committee can grasp what your workshop is about, why it is relevant, what it will accomplish, and how it will be formatted.
  • You may wish to type up your proposal in a word document and copy and paste content to the web form. This will allow you to have a copy for yourself and back up in case of submission issues.
  • Please complete all sections of the online proposal. If you experience difficulty, please call 734-995-7459, or email Julie.Edler@cuaa.edu
  • Proposals will be reviewed in the order they are submitted starting February 21, 2018, and concluding at the end of March.
